Terms of Service
Last updated: 2026-10-27
RideDots provides visual motion cue dots along the screen edges designed as a visual orientation aid for passengers in vehicles. Before first use, RideDots displays a clear notice with these terms. These terms are available in English and German; both versions have identical meaning.
Provider
RideDots is provided free of charge by Paul Wolfmajer, a natural person publishing under the developer name Wolpa (see Impressum).
Passenger Use Only – Driver Safety Warning
RideDots is designed exclusively for passengers in cars, trains, buses, boats, ferries and airplanes.
NEVER use, configure, observe or interact with RideDots while operating or driving a vehicle, bicycle, vessel or machinery. Operating a mobile device while driving creates serious risk of collision, severe injury and death, and is prohibited by law. The driver of any vehicle must maintain undivided attention on the road and traffic conditions at all times.
No Medical Device – Disclaimer of Medical Efficacy
RideDots is an assistive comfort and visual orientation tool, not a substitute for medical care. It is not clinically evaluated, approved or certified to prevent, cure, treat, diagnose or alleviate motion sickness (kinetosis), nausea, dizziness, vestibular disorders or any other medical condition.
Responses to visual motion cues vary considerably between individuals. RideDots makes no guarantee, promise or warranty that motion cues will prevent or reduce discomfort. Consult a licensed medical professional for medical advice regarding kinetosis.
System Limitations and Overlay Boundaries
RideDots relies on Android system overlay permissions (SYSTEM_ALERT_WINDOW) and hardware sensors. Due to Android security policies, overlays are automatically hidden by the operating system over system lock screens, permission dialogs, secure keyboard inputs, banking applications and other security-sensitive windows.
Sensor precision and responsiveness depend on individual device hardware. In unusual holding angles or flat orientations, motion cue responsiveness may vary.
License
Subject to these terms, the provider grants you a personal, revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to install and use RideDots on compatible Android devices for lawful private passenger use. All intellectual property rights remain with the provider.
Voluntary Contributions and Advertising
All core features of RideDots remain free of charge without payment or subscription. Rewarded videos and PayPal contributions are strictly voluntary. Watching a rewarded video pauses banner ads locally for 30 minutes; it confers no cash value or permanent digital asset. Voluntary PayPal donations unlock no features or exclusive privileges.
Required Updates and Suspension
For security, legal or operational reasons, the provider may require an update to a newer version or temporarily suspend app access. Received policies persist offline. Local settings, legal documentation and support remain accessible.
Warranty and Liability
RideDots is provided free of charge “as is”. To the maximum extent permitted by applicable Austrian law, the provider excludes all warranties and liability, except in cases of intentional misconduct or gross negligence, or injury to life, body or health. Statutory consumer rights under mandatory consumer protection laws remain unaffected.
Applicable Law and Jurisdiction
These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Austria, excluding the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods (CISG). For consumer disputes, mandatory statutory consumer protection laws and consumer courts apply.
